Streaming platform NetFlix has finally found the right balance between the technical superiority of Hindi cinema and the freedom and reach of the digital medium with the series Sacred Games. Now, the platform will attempt to replicate the success with Ghoul, a horror series starring Radhika Apte. The series is expected to be launched on 24 August.

The official poster of the series, that was launched today, captures a petrified Apte holding on to a gun, while a ghastly hand creeps up behind her. According to the official media release, the series is based on an Arabic folktale. Apte plays a government interrogator who turns in her own father as an anti-government activist. It is only when she turns up at the covert detention centre for interrogation, that she realises that none of the terrorists are from this world.

Written and directed by Patrick Graham, Ghoul also features Manav Kaul.

The series joins Leila (based on Prayaag Akbar's eponymous novel) as well as Crocodile among the many India specific content being created by Netflix.
