Before actor Ishaan Khatter jumped into a lake for a shot from the song 'Pehli Baar', he asked his director Shashank Khaitan if he had any advice before the take. Khaitan's advice? "Ishaan, don't think about so much about it!"
The third song from the soundtrack of Dhadak has a heady, romantic feel with Khatter's character gearing up for a meeting with the girl he likes, played by Janhvi Kapoor. He meets her after jumping into a lake where she is hanging out with her friends.
In a video on the making of the song, out today, the director finally confessed that there were many snakes in the lake that the crew of Dhadak had to fish out of the water before the leads filmed their scenes. Khatter and Kapoor's astonished reactions at Khaitan's confession says it all.
"We went with blind faith," Khaitan said about shooting the jump sequence. Kapoor revealed that they were cold and shivering before the shot, but once the cameras began rolling they were fine.
The video also showed the risks Khatter was taking making the jump. The lake is 80 feet deep and he had to jump in area of only 4 feet to avoid hitting two staircases.
Of course, all's well that ends well. The song 'Pehli Baar' shows Khatter nailing the jump perfectly. As he jokingly tells Khaitan at the end of the video, he's not angry with him, only "hungry, for more!".
Dhadak, a remake of the Marathi blockbuster film Sairat (2016), is due to be released on 20 July.
