There will be clashes, but we remain friends: Akshay Kumar on Gold's clash with Satyameva Jayate

Actor Akshay Kumar is gearing up for his next film, Gold, that will be released on 15 August. Akshay's good friend actor-producer John Abraham too has Satyameva Jayate marked to hit the screens on Independence Day.  

At the trailer launch of Satyameva Jayate earlier, John was asked about competing with Akshay. The actor downplayed the clash, saying, “Akshay is a friend. I wish him the best. Two films can release on the same day. There is enough screens. They are two different genres.”

Now, Akshay was asked about the impending clash with Satyameva Jayate. The Gold actor, too, spoke in the same vein.

“We are friends. It is normal for any one to release film on any particular date. I’ll do the same next time. Be Eid, Diwali, or Christmas. There will be clashes. But we remain friends,” Akshay told the media at the film's music launch.

Later, a journalist asked the actor if he would ask the audience to make Gold their first choice for 15 August.

“I’m nobody to tell anybody what is your first choice. The first choice belongs to the person who will spend money, my job is just to tell them that I’ve come with a good product. I’m not going to tell audience which movie to watch," he replied.

John and Akshay have worked together in quite a few films, most notably Garam Masala (2005), Desi Boyz (2011) and Houseful 2 (2012).

In Gold, Akshay plays Tapan Das, manager of the Indian hockey team. At the music launch, he was asked if he has ever played hockey. To everyone's surprise, the actor informed that he used to be a goal keeper.

At this point, actor Vineet Kumar Singh shared how the Gold team would play cricket in the breaks during the shoot and it seems, Akshay would lead the pack. Another game that Akshay and Singh played was catch. “We played catch-catch, the one who dropped was out. We must have played about 40 times, and every time, Akshay sir used to be the last man standing,” Singh recalled.  

Akshay was quick to add that he won because the game carried monetary prize.
