Director Sandeep Modi has brought forth the trailer of Chumbak, which promises emotional drama with a generous dose of humour.
The teaser released recently cleverly hid the main story. The trailer shows that the film is about two young boys trying to earn money through fraudulent means.
The story takes place in Mumbai where two poor kids (Sahil Jadhav and Sangram Desai) dream of earning big by adopting shortcut means. The boys use the tried and tested clickbait formula to realise their goals. They send text messages to unsuspecting victims saying they had won a Rs1 crore lottery and to get the money they would have to pay processing fee of Rs20,000.
A mentally challenged, middle-aged man Prasanna Thombre (Swanand Kirkire) falls for the trap. He comes to meet the boys, but brings only a part of the 'processing fee'. Instead, he offers his gold chain to make up for the rest of the amount.
The boys flee with the money and chain. When Prasanna realizes that he has been conned, he tracks them down and demands his money and chain back. His persistence like that of a magnet justifies the film's name.

The thieving boys are humanised, a trend we have seen in Prakash Kunte’s Cycle earlier this year. Chumbak promises to be a funny, yet emotional drama about the unusual relationship Prasanna shares with the kids.
Lyricist Kirkire, who is playing a lead character for the first time, seems to have nailed a competent performance.
Chumbak will be out in the theatres on 27 July.
