The new poster of director Atul Manjrekar’s Fanney Khan is not only interesting, but also entertaining. It gives a sneak peek into the film’s story and also features Tamil superstar Rajinikanth. Well almost.

The Tamil actor is not making an appearance in the film. Anil Kapoor, who plays the titular role, is wearing a mask that resembles the face of Rajinikanth.

Fanney Khan is the official remake of the 2000 Belgian satire Everybody's Famous! That film was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 73rd Academy Awards.

Fanney Khan revolves around the kidnapping of a star singer by a father who wants his daughter to succeed.

The poster shows actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan being tied up as a kidnapping victim. Is Kapoor playing the kidnapper of Rai Bachchan the superstar?

The poster also has Rajkummar Rao with his face covered, caught giving an impression of being scared. Could he be Kapoor’s accomplice in the kidnap plan?

The original film also has an important character of the star singer’s manager, who later joins hands with the kidnapper. It will be interesting to see who plays that character in Fanney Khan.

The makers have also released another poster where Kapoor is not wearing the mask.

Produced by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Fanney Khan will be released on 3 August.
