Film actor-comedian Yogi Babu, whose fan base has been steadily increasing in Tamil cinema, has clarified that several Twitter accounts started in his name are all fake and that he hasn't made any of those defamatory statements that are being put out using such accounts.
Yogi Babu, who is one of the most sought after comedians in the Tamil film industry, issued this statement after a few inflammatory statements, mocking actors and politicians were put out by trolls using several fake accounts started in his name.
As the actor is a popular comedian, trolls who want to pull down other actors or politicians make memes using his pictures as they garner more attention. They also have been posting such content using accounts that have been started in his name.
A worried Yogi Babu has clarified that he has nothing to do with any of these fake accounts. "Over the last few days, there have been posts put on Twitter that give the impression that I am mocking political leaders. I have not made any such statements. There are a few fake accounts that have been started in my name on Twitter. Such wrong statements are being issued through such fake accounts. I request everyone not to follow such accounts. I am not in any political party," he said.
Yogi Babu's rise in popularity has been a topic of interest. The man, who started his career doing small insignificant roles, began charging anywhere between Rs30,000 to Rs50,000 per day of shooting, after people began taking note of him. Today, his popularity has risen to such an extent that he charges a lakh and a half for every day that he shoots for a film.
This meteoric rise in popularity has also brought along with it, its share of problems. Trolls use his pictures often in their memes as then, the reach of the meme is greater.
The actor, who was recently seen it the Vijay Sethupathi-starrer has at least a dozen films in his kitty, including the Nayanthara-starrer Kolamavu Kokila.
