Aishwarya Rai Bachchan plays a celebrity pop star in Atul Manjrekar’s Fanney Khan, which also stars Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. It is after a long hiatus that the actress is seen shaking a leg on screen.
The last time she did that was in Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s Action Replayy (2010) with Akshay Kumar. The films that followed — Guzaarish (2010), Jazbaa (2015), Sarbjit (2016) and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016) — didn’t require her to perform dance numbers.
Her song ‘Mohabbat’ from Fanney Khan establishes her star status. She plays the pop icon Baby Singh in the film. The actress is seen having a gala time performing the energetic dance steps with other back-up dancers.
The recently released making of the song video shows that Rai Bachchan was also enjoying when the main camera was off. There is a moment in the video where the actress appears delighted when the choreographer is showing her the steps.
It is not often that you get to see Rai Bachchan having fun behind the camera. But having said that, she is also seen seriously concentrating while learning the steps.
Fanney Khan is the official remake of the Belgian satire Everybody’s Famous! (2000).
