Devika Daftardar has received acclaim for her performances in a number of films like Devrai (2004), Shala (2012), Samhita (2013), Astu: So Be It (2014), Baromas (2016) and Kaasav (2017). However, despite being in the industry since 2004, she does not have too many films to her credit.
Daftardar's latest, Pari Hun Main, sees her paired with Nandu Madhav, best known for his performance as Dadasaheb Phalke in Paresh Mokashi’s film Harishchandrachi Factory (2010), which was also India's entry to the Oscars that year.
The titular role in the film is played by child actress Shruti Nigde. Pari Hun Main is the emotional tale of a child (Nigde) and her parents, played by Daftardar and Nandu Madhav.
The film is based on the Marathi stage play Vege Vege Dhavu, which was written by Iravati Karnik. It deals with the condition of child artistes on television. The play was directed by Rohit Das Shilwant, who makes his film directorial debut with Pari Hun Main.
The first teaser of the film, which was released some time ago, has a feel-good touch about it. It shows the child shooting for a film and performing in a play while her parents look on with pride. Maybe glimpses of the more serious parts of the story will be shown in the trailer.
Pari Hun Main is scheduled to be released on 7 September. Watch the teaser below and let us know what you think of the film's box-office prospects:
