Zila Gorakhpur based on Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath?

The poster has a bald yogi looking over the city, while a calf is seen standing next to him. Adding to speculation is the fact that Adityanath hails from Gorakhpur.

Biopics and period films have become a trend in Hindi cinema today. We are now beginning to see biopics of people who still haven’t finished with their careers yet.

Poster of Zila Gorakhpur has surfaced and the film seems to be based on Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath.

The poster has a bald yogi looking over the city, while a calf is standing next to him. Although the face of the yogi is not visible, his attire, pose and the calf next to him suggests this film could be based on the Uttar Pradesh chief minister. Adding to speculation is the fact that Adityanath hails from Gorakhpur.

Interestingly, the yogi is holding a gun. Could this be a reference to Adityanath's right wing organisation Hindu Yuva Yahini that has accused of communal violence in the state?

Adityanath had joined the Gorakhnath Math at the age of 21 and became its head priest after the death of Mahant Avaidyanath.

Zila Gorakhpur is presented by one Nostum Entertainment. Going by the poster, the film is directed by Vinod Tiwari, Raj Nostrum and Paresh Kumar.

It must be recalled that Vinod Tiwari was recently tipped to direct a film on the life of comedian-turned-actor Kapil Sharma, but the news was later denied by Sharma’s team.

If Zila Gorakhpur is indeed a film based on Adityanath, it will be the second biopic on a Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader. A biopic of prime minister Narendra Modi is currently under production, that will star actor and fellow BJP leader Paresh Rawal.

A film on Congress party member and former prime minister Manmohan Singh, titled The Accidental Prime Minister, is scheduled to be released on 21 December.
