Abhishek Saha’s debut film Uronchondi is generating curiosity among film goers with its unusual storyline, promising trailer and captivating song. Touted as Bengali cinema's first road movie, Uronchondi narrates the story of four women who bravely push the boundaries of their lives and choose their own paths to freedom.

The film features veteran theatre actress Chitra Sen, National Award winning actress Sudipta Chakraborty (who is also the wife of the director) and two new comers Rajnandini Pal and Amartya Ray.

The director said he faced no complications while placing the two debut artistes with experienced actresses, Sudipta Chakraborty and Chitra Sen. “Honestly, it was not a huge challenge. Both Rajnandini and Amartya are not at all amateurish in front of the screen. Rajnandini is very spontaneous and natural, while Amartya prefers to do a lot of homework before going on the floors,” said the director in an interview with Eenaduindia.com.

The film was entirely shot outdoors in only 13 days. “It was quite a challenge shooting outdoors. It was extremely hot and we were always quite tensed about the sudden changes in the weather. However, when we finally completed the shooting, it felt that all the hard works paid off,” actress Sen said in an interview with Anandabazar Patrika, a newspaper.

Both Sen and Pal opined that Saha was exceptionally calm during the rigorous days of shooting. “Abhishek doesn’t talk much. Generally, we expect reactions from the director but normally he did not use to have any. He used to say that he would point out if things went wrong. He is extremely flexible and has given a lot of freedom as well,” Sen added.

Ray, on the other hand, said, “Throughout the shooting schedule, we used to work as a team. I used to be present to see Soumik Da’s [Soumik Haldar, cinematographer] camerawork, Sudipta Di would see the art segment and so on.”

The director also added that Chakraborty contributed a lot to the film; her attention to detail helped him achieve perfection.

Uronchondi is slated to be released on 3 August.
