Box office: Soorma makes Rs6.85 crore nett in second week; Sanju touches Rs331 crore nett

Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh's Soorma (2018) has had slow progress at the box office. The film made Rs6.85 crore nett in its second week, taking its domestic business so far to Rs28.25 crore nett, as reported by Boxofficeindia.com

Soorma is the biopic of former Indian hockey star Sandeep Singh. It also features Taapsee Pannu in the lead role. Made at an estimated budget of Rs25 crore, Soorma was initially released in 1,100 screens in India.

While one biopic has had slow progress, the other big one, Sanju (2018), still continues to rake in steady numbers. Sanju is the biopic of actor Sanjay Dutt. The Ranbir Kapoor-starrer collected a decent Rs9.50 crore nett in week four to take its domestic business to Rs331 crore nett.

The film may struggle to catch up with PK (2014), that made Rs337.72 crore nett, and Salman Khan's Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) that made Rs339 crore nett. Last reported, Sanju is still running in around 300-odd screens.

Hollywood release Skyscraper, starring Dwayne Johnson, made Rs7.75 crore nett in the first week.

Dharma Productions' Dhadak (208) enjoyed a good week, bagging Rs50.50 crore nett. Big ticket Hollywood film Mission: Impossible – Fallout has hit the theatres today. Soorma, and even Sanju will have a tough task from here on.
