A criminal lawyer, Shaikh Abdul Vasid, took to Facebook to praise the makers and cast of the upcoming film, Mulk (2018).
The trailer of the film, directed by Anubhav Sinha, suggests that the story tackles the difficult subject of Islamophobia.
In the film, a Muslim family residing in North India is accused of treason after a son turns anti-national.
Vasid saw the trailer and recorded a video in which he lauded lead actress Taapsee Pannu's portrayal of a lawyer in court. Pannu plays Aarti Mohammed, who defends her father-in-law, played by Rishi Kapoor.
He congratulated the team behind the film for taking up a sensitive issue and showing the consequences of what happens to an entire family when a member is accused of a crime. The film, he feels, helps to break the prejudices of Islamophobia in the country.
He urged people to watch Mulk when it is released in theatres to see how prejudice affects families. It is important that the film's message reaches people, he said.
Mulk, also starring Prateik, Rajat Kapoor and Manoj Pahwa, is due to be released on 3 August 2018.
