The 9th edition of the National Centre for the Performing Arts' (NCPA) music festival titled ‘Bandish 2018 – A Tribute to Legendary Composers’ will play tribute to some of the biggest legends of Indian music. The three-day festival is being held from 3 to 5 August at the Tata Theatre, Nariman Point.
The festival will open at at 6.30pm with a tribute to Mogubai Kurdikar and Kishori Amonkar, the mother and daughter classical vocalists. Pandit Raghunandan Panshikar will perform the Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana, while Jayateerth Mevundi will showcase the compositions of classical vocalist Amir Khan and Hindustani classical music teacher Ramashreya Jha.
On 4 August, Carnatic vocalist TM Krishna will pay tribute to composers Kshetrayya and Pacchimiriam Adiyappa.
The festival will conclude on 5 August with a celebration of the music composer Jaidev who was born on 3 August 1919. Singers Hariharan, Suresh Wadkar, Mahalakshmi Iyer, Vibhavari Apte Joshi and Penaz Masani will perform songs composed by the late great composer. Ashit Desai will be the music conductor while Atul Tiwari will be the anchor for the night.

NCPA’s Bandish is a sincere endeavour to pay tribute to some of the most illustrious composers who have rendered immensely beautiful compositions. The 9th edition of the festival will witness overwhelming performances by eminent artistes as they pay homage to legendary composers and celebrate the birth centenary of distinguished music director Jaidev."
Born Jaidev Verma, a young Jaidev assisted Ustad Ali Akbar Khan and later turned independent music composer with Chetan Anand's Joru Ka Bhai (1955). He won the National Award for Best Music Direction thrice for Reshma Aur Shera (1971), Gaman (1978) and Ankahee (1984).
