Vijayendra Prasad, Eros International to develop, produce, distribute films together


The screenwriter of the National Award-winning films Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) will produce and develop scripts for the global distribution company in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil languages.

The man behind the blockbusters Magadheera (2009), Eega (2012), the Baahubali films (2015 and 2017) and Mersal (2017), screenwriter Vijayendra Prasad is teaming with the global distribution company, Eros International Media Ltd., to develop scripts, and produce and distribute films and web-series across the world.

Under the deal, Prasad and Eros International will create new content for Hindi, Telugu and Tamil audiences. The screenwriter already has around 10 stories in hand that can be filmed. The partners have directors in mind for these projects that will be revealed soon.

One of the projects will be a family action thriller in Hindi to be directed by Rangasthalam (2018) filmmaker Sukumar, another is a bilingual (Tamil and Telugu) thriller to be directed by Prasad's nephew SS Kanchi, while Prasad's assistant, Sriman, will helm another project that will be his first Hindi film.

In a statement, the prolific screenwriter, too, spoke about his enthusiasm for the upcoming projects, "I am truly delighted to be associated with a leading studio like Eros International, who are undisputed leaders with the best global marketing and distribution infrastructure and I hope this announcement is the beginning of a long and successful journey together in presenting films that will be appreciated."

Prasad won the Filmfare award for Best Story for Kabir Khan's Bhajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), starring Salman Khan. He has also written the script for the keenly awaiting Rani Laxmibai biopic, Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi (2019) starring Kangana Ranaut.
