Looks like first-time director Sajid Ali is finding it difficult to finalise on a release date for his film Laila Majnu.

The film was originally meant to hit the screens on 4 May this year, but was moved to 24 August. Now, according to the film's makers, Laila Majnu will be released on 7 September.

Even the trailer launch is facing some difficulties. The film's trailer was to be released today (25 July) and invites were already sent for the big event. However, the event was cancelled soon after the release date was changed.

If Laila Majnu had released on 24 August, it would have clashed with Anil Sharma’s Genius and Mudassar Aziz’s Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi, which is the sequel to the 2016 comedy Happy Bhag Jayegi.

Now, with the film hitting the silver screens on 7 September, Laila Majnu will face JP Dutta’s war film Paltan that stars Sonu Sood, Arjun Rampal and Jackie Shroff.

Sajid Ali is the brother of famed filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, who has given films like Jab We Met (2007), Rockstar (2011), Highway (2014) and Tamasha (2015). Imtiaz is the screenwriter, choreographer and presenter of Laila Majnu and the film is produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Preety Ali.
