Actress Yami Gautam hails from Himachal Pradesh but has grown up in Chandigarh, Punjab. However, Gautam hasn't forgotten her roots from her home state or her house. In 2016, the actress purchased a heritage house, around 100 years old, that has a plot of 25 acress.
Gautam has been progressively choosing an organic way of life over the years. Taking her commitment forward, she is beginning from her own backyard, quite literally. The actress is planning to set up a greenhouse at her house and will also have an organic garden for fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
The Himachal Pradesh native will also plant more trees around her garden to create more oxygen in the environment. She would like to recruit her neighbours to plant trees around their homes as well.
Gautam revealed why she decided to go organic. "There is already plantation there. I want to ensure it's a process that doesn't stop and I am able to make it into an organic farm eventually. It is something I am inspired to do. I want to ensure the place is just not bought, but is utilized for something useful so it gives opportunity to ensure a chance to break away from the city life and reconnect to my Pahadi roots."
The actress is also filming for the upcoming feature Uri starring Vicky Kaushal on the surgical strike that took place after the September 2016 Uri attacks.
