Mangesh Hadawale, director of acclaimed Marathi films like Tingya (2008) and Tapaal (2014), has come up with a short film based on the early life of Indian prime minister Narendra Modi. Titled Chalo Jeete Hain, the 32-minute Hindi film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, the head honcho of T-Series, and Mahaveer Jain. Jain and Aanand L Rai are the joint presenters of the film.

“It’s the story of a young Naru who is intrigued by Swami Vivekananda’s words, ‘Wahi jeete hain jo doosron ke liye jeete hain’ [Those only live who live for others] and this inspires him to adopt this philosophy very early in his life,” said an official statement from the makers about the movie.

The trailer of the film was released recently.

A special screening of Chalo Jeete Hain will be screened today for Indian president Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi.

Commenting on the same, Kumar said in an official statement, “Looking forward to meet the honorable president of India today. Mahaveer ji and I are excited to screen our special film Chalo Jeete Hain for Shree Ram Nath Kovind ji at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The film has been made with a lot of heart and its message is bound to move you a lot. The act of kindness propagated in the film is something we all need to inculcate in our day to day lives.”

In 2014, a comic series on the early life of Modi titled Bal Narendra was released.

Chalo Jeete Hain will be screened on TV on 29 July at 9pm on the Star TV channels.
