It’s raining wax statues for Hindi film stars or so it seems. Actress Deepika Padukone and actor Shahid Kapoor are the newest celebrities on the Madame Tussauds block to get their wax statues in the world famous museums. The co-stars starred together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat (2018) earlier this year as queen Padmavati and Rawal Ratan Singh.

Padukone made the announcement in a Facebook live video from London. She later shared some photos of her being measured of the statute on Instagram yesterday night with the caption, “It’s all about the details.”

Padukone’s statue will be featured in both the London and Delhi museums. The actress, in the live video, said she was very excited at the opportunity.

“The only time I visited Madame Tussauds was in London when I was very little with my parents. That memory has stayed with me, obviously. And then to receive a letter and now to be a part of that, and to actually experience what goes into making these wax figures. I think Madame Tussauds is so iconic in so many ways all over the world, it just feels great,” she said.

Meanwhile, actor Shahid Kapoor teased his own wax statue with Madame Tussauds. He too shared his news on social media. Kapoor, who will next be seen in Batti Gul Meter Chalu (2018) in September, playfully posed with a fake eye and captioned his Instagram post, “Keep an eye out. Coming soon.”

Keep an eye out. Coming soon.

Indian stars Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Katrina Kaif have already been immortalised with their wax statues. This year, other Indian celebrities from Kajol to Virat Kohli to Varun Dhawn joined their ranks. Actress Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar will also have their wax statues unveiled later this year.
