Actor-producer Riteish Deshmukh celebrated the festival of Ashadhi Ekadashi today (23 July) by sharing the first poster of his upcoming film Mauli. Ashadhi Ekadashi is celebrated all over Maharashtra by worshipping Lord Vitthal, who is also known as Vithu Mauli.
The film is set to be released on 21 December.
The creative poster has an image of the actor at angle where his shadow appears to merge into the image of Lord Vitthal. A group of goons with weapons are seen standing opposite him, ready to attack. The shadow of Vitthal hints that the protagonist is under his protection.
Deshmukh had played a double role in the Nishikant Kamat’s blockbuster Lai Bhaari in 2014. One of the characters was named Mauli. The story of this character is taken forward in the upcoming film by director Aditya Sarpotdar.

Mauli is written by Kshitij Patwardhan who had a successful outing with Deshmukh last year with Faster Fene (2017). The film also marks the Marathi film debut of actress Saiyami Kher. She was last seen in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Mirzya (2016).
Music composer duo Ajay-Atul have been roped in to score the music of the film. They are currently being praised for their work in the recently released Hindi film Dhadak, which is a remake of the Marathi blockbuster Sairat (2016).
