Disco Dancer (1982), a film that played a big role in shaping actor Mithun Chakraborty’s career, will be remade soon. Interestingly, B Subhash, who directed the original, is helming the remake as well.
The news was confirmed by actor Milind Gunaji, who is a part of the film. He is essaying the role played by Om Shivpuri in the original. The late actor played the villain Oberoi who makes life miserable for Chakraborty’s character.
“The film is as good as a remake of Disco Dancer. B Subhash himself is directing the film. Om Shivpuri had played the negative lead against Mithun Chakraborty. I am playing that character here [in the remake],” said Gunaji.
Disclosing more about the film, he said, “It is not a scene-by-scene remake. The story will be the same. The shooting is currently going on. The title of the movie is not finalized yet.”
The actor who will be essaying the lead character played by Chakraborty in the original has not been revealed yet. But as per our sources, he is a debutant actor related to Subhash.
Along with Subhash, another person to be retained from the same team is veteran music composer Bappi Lahiri. He had recorded a song ‘Wah Wah Teri Aankhen’ for the film in April this year.
