Director Sayantan Ghosal will beging shooting for the sequel to his debut adventure film Joker Dhan (2017) in Kolkata today (19 July). With the film, actor Parambrata Chatterjee and actress Koel Mallick will pair up for the third time. Also, Gourab Chakraborty will be seen playing the character of Kumar, which was earlier essayed by Rahul Banerjee in the prequel.
The film also features Kaushik Sen, Rajatabha Dutta, Kanchan Mullick and Shantilal Mukherjee in important roles. Sougata Basu’s story Joker Dhan narrated the tale of Bimal (Parambrata) and Kumar’s journey for a Tibetan treasure. However, the sequel, which has also been conceived by Basu, will be set in Thailand.
“This time Bimal and Kumar will go on an adventure of a bigger scale. They are going to make their journey to a deserted island of Thailand that was submerged under water for years. We have planned to shoot the film in the most remote caves, dangerous forests and mountains in Thailand. Also, the film will have some visual effects that have never been seen in Bengali cinema before,” said the director in an interview with a web portal.
The film will reportedly have a lot of action sequences involving Chatterjee.
Mallick said to The Times Of India, “It is an adventure film where there is treasure hunt and lot more. I play Ruby Chatterjee who is a doctor and not adventurous at all. Circumstances force her into an adventure and the film takes a turn from there. Parambrata plays Bimal who loves adventure and what happens when they meet is what this film all about.”
Though the director is yet to decide on the title of the film, he is hopeful that the film will be released by the end of the year.
