Actor Kartik Aaryan has been roped in to play the lead in the Hindi remake of the hit Kannada movie Kirik Party (2016). Produced by Ajay Kapoor of Kyta Productions, the film will be the Hindi directorial debut of known Gujarati filmmaker Abhishek Jain.
Speaking about the film, Kapoor said in an official statement, “We at Kyta Productions are very excited to start work on the Hindi remake of Kannada blockbuster Kirik Party with gen-X star Kartik Aaryan. The film will also mark the directorial debut of Abhishek Jain, an extremely talented filmmaker. The film will go on floors this October.”
The is Aaryan's next after the super successful Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, which was released earlier this year. The film, directed by Luv Ranjan, took the industry by surprise as it earned Rs100 crore. There have been rumours in recent times about the actor signing his next. But this is the first official announcement.
Jain has made two Gujarati films — Kevi Rite Jaish (2012) and Bey Yaar (2014) — and both turned out to be successful. He had jointly produced Wrong Side Raju (2016) with Phantom Films. Before that, he had assisted in known films like Saawariya (2007), Yuvvraaj (2008) and Guzaarish (2010).
Kirik Party was directed by Rishab Shetty and it featured Rakshit Shetty, Rashmika Mandanna and Samyuktha Hegde. The film had a coming-of-age story of how friendship and love can turn a boy into a man.
