Veteran film and TV actress Rita Bhaduri passes away


The actress, 62, was suffering from a kidney ailment and was admitted in a Mumbai hospital for the past 10 days.

Veteran film and television actress Rita Bhaduri passed away today (17 July) early morning in a Mumbai hospital. She was 62. Bhaduri was suffering from a kidney ailment and was on dialysis.

According to IANS, a news agency, she passed away at around 1.30am and her remains were released at around 4am. 

Actor Shishir Sharma wrote about her passing on Facebook. “We deeply regret to inform you that Reeta Bhaduri has departed for her journey beyond. The funeral rites will be held on 17th July, Tuesday 12 noon at the Cremation Ground, Parsi Wada Road, Parshiwada, Chakala, Andheri East. Extremely sad.. lost a wonderful human being .. a mother to many of us.. will miss u Ma...[sic],” he wrote.

Bhaduri made her film debut in Vinod Talwar’s Teri Talash Mein (1968). Some of her notable films include, Julie (1975), Anurodh (1977), Sawan Ko Aane Do (1979), Ghar Jamai (1992), Beta (1992), Aashik Aawara (1993), Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1994), Virasat (1997), Kya Kehna (2000) and Dil Vil Pyaar Vyar (2002), among many others. 

She is also known for acting in popular TV serials like Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai, Khichdi, Hasratein, Junoon, Amanat, Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka, Kkoi Dil Mein Hai, etc. She was currently working in Nimki Mukhiya that is aired on Star Bharat. In the serial, she played the character of Imarti Devi. Bhaduri also acted in a number of Gujarati films. 

The funeral will be held today at 12 noon in Andheri east.
