Zero poster: Katrina Kaif is in the spotlight, but why so surly?

Actress Katrina Kaif turned 35 today. And fans got a treat with Zero director Aanand L Rai releasing her first look in a new poster of his film.

Kaif is said to be playing an actress in the film. And that much you can tell from the poster. She is in the spotlight with paparazzi wanting to capture the star, who, as you would expect, is surrounded by bodyguards.

Kaif certainly looks like a star here, but you do wonder about the grim expression. Is she playing a star who is uncomfortable facing the media?

Wishing Kaif on her birthday, director Rai described her as one who has moved from queen to king. Now whether that is a personal tribute or the director was giving out a hint about her character in his film is anyone's guess. 

“Hail the queen! A queen that transformed into a king this time! Wish you a very happy birthday Katrina and thanks for making Zero possible,” Rai tweeted .

Zero's male lead Shah Rukh Khan also wished her though he missed Kaif, who is celebrating her birthday in England.

“We know she is beautiful. We know she has set our hearts fluttering. She has loved like she has never been hurt. She dances like nobody’s watching her. She has lived like it’s heaven on earth. But all actors wait for the moment when we can sink our teeth into a character deeper than beauty and its trappings," he posted on Twitter. 

“Here’s my friend on her birthday braving to enthral us in a new avatar. You may ask why so serious? Hmm,” said Khan, before adding that he likes Kaif when she is angry.

“Aapka pata nahin, mujhe toh gusse mein yeh aur bhi haseen lagti hain. Happy birthday to my brave and beautiful Katrina, love Shah Rukh Khan,” he wrote.

Zero is scheduled to be released on 21 December.
