'Mithi Mithi', the first song from Abhishek Saha’s upcoming film Uronchondi, is an audio-visual treat. Shot in the serene rural landscapes of Bengal with a haunting folk-inspired tune by Debojyoti Mishra, the song is a poetic portrayal of a blossoming romance and friendship that take place on a road trip with an unknown destination.
The song features actresses Sudipta Chakraborty and Rajnandini Pal and actor Amartya Ray. It unfolds as the two mates, Chakraborty's Bindi and Pal's Meenu have bath, frolicking in a lake. It gradually focuses on Meenu, as she enjoys her freedom. Meanwhile, Ray's Chotu secretly adores her. The trio are happy for their own reasons.
The song beautifully celebrates the blooming love, and the happiness of a friend for discovering it, with the allusions to the various stages of sringar [the art of adorning].
Srijato’s lyrics, too, carry an earthy flavour that express the gentle yet vulnerable emotions of a lover referring to seasons and subtle images of rural life. He also connects the longing of love with the quest of a journey well with his chosen words.
The moments of teasing and pranks between the two female friends while the man falls for one of them is similar to a very traditional depiction of love stories that is often found in folk tales.
Singer Madhuraa Bhattacharya subtly brings out the sensuality and romance with her voice modulation and soulful rendition of the song. However, the song mostly leaves an imprint on the viewer's mind because of its cinematography and pace that turns the entire track into a work of poetry.
Uronchondi is the first Bengali road film that tells the tale of three women who run away from home to escape from the atrocities they face at the hands of men in their homes.
