Ravi S Alok, a writer and assistant director in Hindi cinema, allegedly committed suicide yesterday afternoon as he plunged from the seventh floor of his building in Versova, Mumbai. He was 32. He was the assistant director in Ab Tak Chhappan 2 (2015), sequel to Shimit Amin’s iconic Ab Tak Chhappan (2004), and the co-writer in Sudhir Mishra’s recently released, Daas Dev (2018).
No suicide note has been found. As per reports, his brother has said that he was suffering from depression as he did not have projects. He was aspiring to be a director.
Alok had directed a couple of short films — The Ticket (2012) and Khuli Khidki (2013).
Khuli Khidki (2013) featured D Santosh in the lead, who is known for playing freedom fighter Rajguru in The Legend Of Bhagat Singh (2002). He is currently out of town and was left shocked to hear about Ravi's untimely demise.
“This is very sad indeed. He was such a talented and focussed guy. He was trying very hard. He was very well groomed. He had left his job and sincerely wanted to do something [in films]. I met him few times after that [shooting Khuli Khidki (2013)].”
Santosh was ready to work with Ravi if he made a short film. “He had shared the idea of Khuli Khidki (2013) on the phone and I had agreed to do it. I had told him to make a film and I would act in it,” he added.
