Festival releases are usually meant to entertain you, make you laugh. They are an occasion for the entire family. However, come Holi this year, parents will not be taking their children to watch Anushka Sharma’s film.

Though titled Pari, the film, as the tagline makes it clear, is no fairy tale. Sharma unveiled its teaser on Tuesday and it is one that will leave you petrified. Also, the film, which was earlier slated to be released on 9 February, has now been pushed back to 2 March.

The 18-second teaser features a grim-looking Sharma. If that isn’t scary enough, the blood dripping from her eyes and face are sure to terrify you.

Yes, a bleeding face has been seen countless times in horror flicks, but seeing Sharma with one will certainly make you want to shut your eyes in fear.

Holi will not feel the same again. Who wants to play Holi with Pari? Perhaps some evil has happened to her and she is thirsting for revenge? Sharma is anything but the friendly ghost Shashi we saw in Phillauri (2017).

The producers delaying the release of Pari is understandable as the impending contest with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavat, which is scheduled to be released on 25 January, would mean that the Akshay Kumar-starrer Pad Man, co-produced by KriArj Entertainment, would need more time at the box office.

A source privy to the company's plans said, “With Padmavat coming in, the producers wanted Pad Man to get a longer run. Releasing two films in a span of two weeks was not deemed wise, so KriArj has deferred the release of Pari to Holi [2 March]. Also, Aiyaary is now coming on 9 February, so there was no point competing with it."

Pari's release being pushed to 2 March leaves a question mark about KriArj’s third film this year, the John Abraham-starrer Parmanu, which is currently slated to be released on 23 February. It seems very unlikely that the producers would release Parmanu and Pari on successive weekends. Besides, Yash Raj Films is releasing Rani Mukerji's comeback vehicle Hichki on 23 February. Sushant Singh Rajput’s Drive is also slated to be released that day, but so far there is no word about that film's status.

With more many films being produced, and just 52 weeks in a year, we can expect more films to change their release dates as we go ahead. But for now, watch the petrifying teaser of Pari here:

The first poster of Pari is expected to be released later today.
