2017 was a mixed year for Kangana Ranaut. Even while she was embroiled in controversies, her films were critically appreciated. This year the actress is looking forward to the release of Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi.

According to a report on MidDay.com, the actress has signed in for an R Balki film, alongside Amitabh Bachchan. The film will have her play an amputee and Bachchan her mentor.

This will be the first time the two National award winners will be seen sharing a screen space, they have previously worked together on a commercial.

"Kangana had already been roped in for the Arunima Sinha biopic. But the film showed no signs of kick-starting. So when Balki offered her this project, she was keen to come on board. The film revolves around a woman who is left handicapped after a freak accident, and eventually reclaims her life," MidDay.com quoted a source.

The director is said to begin working on the film as soon as his upcoming film Pad Mad hits the screens on 25 January.

The yet untitled film is likely to go on floors later in the year, after Ranaut has finished Manikarnika and Bachchan wraps up Thugs Of Hindostan and 102 Not Out.

According to the source, an official announcement will be made later this month, "Kangana will require a two-month-long prep to adapt to the body language of a differently-abled person. The actors are expected to sign the contracts next week and an official announcement will be made later this month."
