With the new year, a new movie begins for actor Ayushmann Khurrana. The comedy, to be directed by Amit Sharma, is co-written by Akshat Ghildial and Shantanu Srivastava.
On Sunday, 7 January, Khurrana shared a photo of the film’s script with the caption, “Let’s do this! Readings and workshops for Badhaai Ho have started. This looks like a fun journey. #BadhaaiHo”. He tagged his co-star, actress Sanya Malhotra and director Sharma, too. The colourful first page has festive banners at the top and a cute illustration of a bespectacled old woman holding a plate of ladoos.

Back in November 2017, Khurrana had confirmed being a part of this project, saying, “I had a fantastic experience collaborating with Junglee Pictures for Bareilly Ki Barfi and working with them on Badhaai Ho is going to be exciting. The story that Amit tells is typically Indian with dollops of quirky humour. I look forward to a family film that is innovative and entertaining.”
Badhaai Ho is produced by Junglee Pictures and Chrome Pictures. Khurrana has recently wrapped up the shoot of Sriram Raghavan's Shoot The Piano Player (2018), while Malhotra has finished filming Ritesh Batra’s Photograph. Both films are due to be released in 2018.
