Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi of Rajasthan on Thursday, 4 January, issued a death threat to film star Salman Khan, saying he will kill the actor in Jodhpur.

"Salman Khan will be killed here, in Jodhpur... Then he will come to know about our real identity," Bishnoi told reporters while being taken to a Jodhpur court by the police.

Bishnoi was being produced in court following his arrest on charges of terrorizing traders and extorting money from them.

He claimed he had been framed in false cases and not a single witness had deposed against him in court to prove the charges.

"Now, if police want me to do some major crime, I shall kill Salman Khan and that too in Jodhpur," he added.

Bishnoi's death threat to Salman Khan is being linked with the black buck case of 1998, in which Khan and his Hum Saath-Saath Hain (1999) co-stars have been accused.

The Bishnoi community had brought up the black buck hunting case and ever since the community considers the actor a "villain".

However, some felt that the gangster talked of killing Khan just to create a sensation.

On Thursday, the actor appeared in the court of Jodhpur's chief judicial magistrate (rural) for a hearing in the black buck poaching case.

Bishoi is a notorious gangster and has been charged in over 20 cases of attempt to murder, carjacking, extortion, snatching and under the Arms Act in the Punjab-Haryana belt.
