After his collaboration with filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane on Bhavesh Joshi, actor Harshvardhan Kapoor is all set to get in the shoes of Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra. The shooting of the film will begin later this year.

Bindra, a professional shooter, is the first Indian athlete to win an individual gold medal at the Olympics in the men's 10m air rifle event held in Beijing, China in 2008.

The yet untitled film, will be directed by Kannan Iyer, and co-written by Iyer and Abhay Koranne. Harshvardhan shared images of him and Bindra sitting for the first script reading session.

He tweeted, "For someone who's chased perfection all his life, @Abhinav_Bindra can be a hard man to please to some. But I think he's happy with the writing...  Shoot begins fall 2018 @anilkapoor #BindraTheBiopic #BindraTheMovie"

Harshvardhan's father, actor Anil Kapoor, will play the role of Bindra's father Apjit in the film.

Based on A Shot At History: My Obsessive Journey to Olympic Gold, a book by Abhinav Bindra and Rohit Brijnath, the film is said to focus on the relationship between the father and the son before Bindra became a Olympic champion. Anil also shared his excitement on Twitter, writing, "Keeping true to his story was our main goal and I am glad we could achieve that. The first reading of the script was surely a memorable moment for all of us! Thank you @Abhinav_Bindra for believing in us! Can’t wait to start shooting now!"

Anil has a busy 2018 with key roles in Fanne Khan, Race 3, and Total Dhamaal where he reunites with his 1990s co-star Madhuri Dixit.

The Bindra biopic, which is likely to be released in 2019, will be Iyer's second film as a director. He has previously helmed Ek Thi Daayan (2013), starring Emraan Hashmi, Kalki Koechlin, Huma Qureshi and Konkona Sensharma.
