Complaint filed against Kamal Haasan for comments on RK Nagar by-elections

Meanwhile, Haasan said he is ready to fight if the current MLA of RK Nagar, TTV Dhinakaran, choses to file a defamation case against him in court.

Siva Aruthra, a lawyer, from RK Nagar, has filed a police complaint against actor Kamal Haasan for allegedly making defamatory statements on the by-elections held in the RK Nagar assembly on 21 December 2017.

Haasan, who has begun penning a political series, Ennul Maiyam Konda Puyal ( The Cyclone Within Me), in Tamil magazine Ananda Vikatan, had last week in his column compared bribed voter with those who take alms from thieves.

The observation has triggered anger amongst the supporters of TTV Dhinakaran, the current MLA of RK Nagar, claiming that Haasan's statements insult the electorate.

Meanwhile, Haasan, who seems to be unfazed by the developments, has said he is ready to fight if Dhinakaran choses to file a defamation case against him in court.
