Radhika Apte signs film with Dev Patel

Radhika Apte is making a smooth transition from being the face of independent cinema to that of commercial space. Her upcoming stint opposite Akshay Kumar in R Balki's Pad Man is certain to cement the transition. However, the actress is set to have a big 2018, and has confirmed signing on a film with the Slumdog Millionaire (2008) star, Dev Patel.

In an interview to Mumbai Mirror, a tabloid, the actress said, "Yes, I’m doing a film with Dev which I will announce soon." While there is not much detail available on the film, another report in The Deccan Chronicle, a daily, quoted a source as saying, "It’s a very unusual script and Radhika has been approached for it. She will be seen with Dev in the film, which is being perceived as an indie project. The duo will start shooting for the movie soon." 

The actress is currently awaiting the release of Pad Man on 26 January, where she plays the wife of a man who uses his own ingenuity to help women get access to hygienic and affordable sanitary napkins. The film is based on the social activist, Arunachalam Muruganathan. 

Pad Man is not the only big commercial release for Apte this year. The actress will also be seen opposite Rohan Mehra, son of the late Vinod Mehra, in Baazaar. The film directed by Gauravv Chawla, also stars Saif Ali Khan, and is expected to be released later this year. Apart from these she will also be seen opposite Ayushmann Khurrana in Sriram Raghavan's upcoming film, Shoot The Piano Player.
