The makers of recently released Tamil horror film Balloon have lodged an complaint against actor Jai with the Tamil Film Producers’ Council.
The producers, Kandasamy Nandakumar and TN Arun Balaji, have sought action against the actor for not assigning dates properly and being irregular at work. This, they allege, caused a delay in the project and the duo have sought a compensation of Rs1.50 crore for the losses incurred.
In the complaint, a copy of which is available with Cinestaan.com, the producers wrote, “We began work on our film Balloon in June 2016. We had plans to release the film in January 2017. But then we had no other option but to delay the release of the film to December 2017 because of actor Jai.”
“Jai did not come for dubbing the film either. With no other option, we had to push the films release to December. As a result, we have had to incur losses of Rs 1.50 crore because of him. We request you to initiate action to ensure that Jai compensates us for this loss immediately. We believe that the producer's council will speak for us in this issue and help us,” they appealed.
The producers have also urged the council to not allow Jai to act in any other film until this issue is resolved. “This is a request that is put forward keeping in mind the welfare of all the producers, who, like us, are making films with him as the hero,” the producers noted.
