Sanjay Dutt biopic affected as Baaghi 2 to be released on 30 March?

The date was first locked for the release of the biopic, but it is highly unlikely that Fox Star Studios will release their two films on the same day.

The much awaited biopic of actor Sanjay Dutt starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead has witnessed another change in its release date. Fox Star Studios had earlier locked 30 March 2018 as the release date for the film directed by Rajkumar Hirani. But with the studio shifting the release date of Baaghi 2 to 30 March, it is natural that two films from the same stable won’t clash. Baaghi 2 was earlier slated to be released on 27 April 2018.

A trade source told Cinestaan.com, “There is no way Fox Star Studios is going to release two of their big films on the same day. In all likelihood, the Sanjay Dutt biopic is now delayed.”

An official from Fox Star Studios refused to reveal anything and merely said, “You are free to speculate. I can’t comment whether the Sanjay Dutt biopic is delayed or preponed. You will have to wait for an official announcement.”

The Dutt biopic has taken a while to be shot. Shooting first commenced in January 2017, continuing with different schedules. The last shooting took place in the third week of December in Cape Town, South Africa. There is no word yet on whether the shoot has been wrapped up and the Fox Star Studios official also refused to reveal information on the status of the shoot.

Kapoor is currently in Israel prepping for Dharma Productions’ Brahmastra, the superhero flick which will go on the floors in February, as announced by Karan Johar a few days ago.

“If the shoot of the Dutt biopic is not completed, then in all probability the film is not coming before March. Hirani is also known to take his time for the edit," added the trade source.

The untitled Dutt biopic was earlier slated to be released in December 2017, but the multiple delays in the shoot of Jagga Jasoos had pushed the Hirani film to 2018.
