Malayalam actress Parvathy, who made her Hindi film debut with Qarib Qarib Singlle (2017), continues to be harassed for her criticism of Malayalam star Mammootty’s film Kasaba.
Ever since the actress called out the many sexist dialogues mouthed by the star in the film, she has been criticised and even threatened by disgruntled people, probably Mammootty fans.
As if that wasn’t enough, the fans have been ridiculing a new song from the actress’s upcoming film, My Story.
It is rare that a film song featuring a popular actor gets more dislikes than likes. On New Year’s eve, the makers of My Story unveiled the song 'Pathungi' on YouTube. At the time of publishing this article, the song was viewed 9,88,000 times but had only 31,000 likes and a staggering 1,77,000 dislikes.
The comments section of the video has now been disabled, but the actress's twitter handle was littered with hate messages.
Noting the developments, the actress took to Twitter to have her say.
“What a glorious time to be alive. Everyone showing their truest colours,” Parvathy wrote.
The actress had a great 2017, winning the Best Actress award at the 48th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) for her Malayalam film Take Off (2017). Her maiden Hindi film Qarib Qarib Singlle, too, was well received.
Her comments on the Mammootty film drew flak from the star’s fans, but one was stunned when Joby George, the producer of Kasaba, offered a job to an unruly fan who had harassed the actress on social media.
Another unruly fan sent her a direct message on Instagram threatening to rape her. The actress, however, has refused to wilt in the face of such attacks and has stuck to her stand.
