Swara Bhasker’s ‘being reduced to a vagina’ comment after watching Padmaavat is taking social media by storm. Writer and lyricist Garima Wahal had slammed the actress first. Now Padmaavat actor Shahid Kapoor has expressed his views on her comments.

Speaking to the Navbharat Times newspaper, Kapoor admitted he had not read Swara Bhasker’s comments but felt that it was inappropriate to make such comments.

“Yes, I have come to know about Swara's letter, but honestly I haven't read it yet because it is a long letter, and we are very busy these days. I don't know what issue she has. Perhaps, whatever issue she has is related to Sanjay sir [filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali],” he said.

The actor, who played Rawal Ratan Singh in the film, found the actress's comments "disgusting".

“I would say this is not the time for all this," Kapoor said. "Padmaavat is representing the entire film industry. It is also representing freedom of expression and freedom of speech. We had a tough time making this film reach the audience, and at a time when the entire film industry stood beside us, I find this open letter a bit disgusting. But everybody has the right to put forward his or her views, and she has put out her personal views in the letter."

Swara Bhasker was critical of the film for she felt it glorified the practice of jauhar and sati.
