Hate Story IV: Urvashi Rautela is new age Draupadi in this unimpressive trailer

Going by the trailer, Hate Story IV has lots of sex, infidelity, crime and some suspense.

The makers of Hate Story IV launched a fairly crass trailer of the film today.

Trashy films have a charm of their own. They turn out to be so bad, that they leave you amused. Last year, Abbas-Mustan unleashed Machine on us. It’s entertainment value lay in its trashy subject and poor acting, but the film was enjoyable for its campy dialogues none more hilarious than lead actor Mustafa Burmawalla saying: “Main tumhari honthon ki lipstick zaroor kharab karoonga ... par tumhari aankhon ka kajal kabhi nahi.”

In Hate Story IV, starlet Tasha (Urvashi Rautela) falls in love with two men, Raghav (Karan Wahi) and a character played by Vivan Bhatena. The problem is the two men are brothers. “Draupadi ke toh paanch Pandava the, yahan toh sirf do hain” (Draupadi has five Pandavas, there are only two here) says Tasha, adding to the cringe value.

According to the epic, Mahabharata, Draupadi got married to the five Pandava brothers after marrying Arjun. However, here Tasha appears to be two-timing the brothers. Raghav is a photographer who offers to make Tasha a star, while Tasha is then seen making out with the big brother.

There is also Gulshan Grover, who plays father to Tasha’s lovers. “Mera ek beta jis ladki se shaadi karna chahta hain, mere dusre bete ne us ladki se pehle hi suhaag raat mana li” (One of my son has already slept with the girl my other son wants to marry) is one of the dialogues Grover mouths.

There is more drama in store with Punjabi actor Ihana Dhillon’s character calling herself the twist in this tale. Going by the trailer, Hate Story IV has lots of sex, infidelity, crime and some suspense.

The trailer doesn’t come across as a compelling tale, and the actors don’t show much promise. Rautela is yet to make an impression as an actress. Though popular, Wahi and Bhatena, too, don’t look encouraging.

Director Vishal Pandya returns to direct his third straight Hate Story, which will be released on 9 March
