Sidharth Malhotra has already issued an apology on Twitter, but that may not suffice to calm down the aggrieved Bhojpuri community, which has objected to his ‘latrine feeling’ comment on a reality TV show.
After Neetu Chandra, Bhojpuri star-turned-Bharatiya Janata Party Delhi unit chief Manoj Tiwari hit out at the Aiyaary actor.
Tiwari told the Hindustan Times newspaper, “Main shock hua sun ke. Aur yeh bahut hi aapattijanak hai aap kisi 22 crore logon ki language ko iss prakar se bolo. It’s a big insult for 22 crore people. This is very bad. Main issko condemn karta hoon. We should respect every language of my country. Main sochta tha actor hai, kuch achcha karega, lekin issne toh bahut hi hurt kar diya. Hume nahi lagta log unko maaf karenge. Unko maafi maangni chahiye apne vyavahar ke liye [I was shocked to hear about it. It is highly objectionable to make such comments... I condemn it... I thought as an actor, he would do good, but he has hurt us immensely. I don’t think people will forgive him. He should apologize for his conduct]."
Tiwari added that aggrieved members of the community would soon file FIRs (first information reports) or criminal complaints against the actor.
“Kuch FIR bhi ho jaayenge unke par kal tak, teen chaar jagahon se — Patna, Benares, Kolkata, Mumbai mein bhi ho raha hai [FIRs are being filed against in him in different cities such as Patna, Benares, Mumbai and Kolkata]," he said.
Malhotra recently appeared on the reality TV show Bigg Boss with Manoj Bajpayee to promote their film Aiyaary. The duo indulged in a bit of banter reciting in Bhojpuri some dialogues from Bigg Boss host Salman Khan's recent hit Tiger Zinda Hai (2017).
Bajpayee asked Malhotra to repeat the line, 'shikaar toh sab kehu karela, lekin baagh jaisan shikaar kehu na kare. [Everyone hunts, but no one hunts like a tiger.]'
"Aisa lag raha hai ki neeche baitha hua hai, latrine mein. Bathroom mein kar rahe hain ki kahan hain? [It seems as if the speaker is in the toilet]," Malhotra allegedly remarked.
