Gully Boy: Pink actor Vijay Varma to play Ranveer Singh’s best friend


Varma will share screen space with Alia Bhatt and Kalki Koechlin.

Monsoon Shootout (2017) actor Vijay Varma will now be seen in the much-awaited Gully Boy, which is director Zoya Akhtar’s next. He will be seen acting alongside Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Kalki Koechlin.

Varma will essay the character of a rapper, who is close to Singh's character. “Vijay will be seen playing childhood buddy to Ranveer Singh and while growing up together they turn out to be the best rappers in the vicinity,” said an official statement released by the makers.

Sharing his happiness of getting on board, Varma said in an official statement, “Working with Zoya Akhtar is like a dream come true. She is one of the finest directors we have in the country and I am eagerly looking forward to shoot this one. Also sharing screen space with the mighty Ranveer Singh is gonna be fun!”

Varma was appreciated for his role in Monsoon Shootout. He stood out despite the presence of Nawazuddin Siddiqui. He has also starred in other acclaimed films like Chittagong (2012), Pink (2016) and Raag Desh (2017). Gully Boy is his biggest film in terms of the budget, scale and cast.

Singh recently shared his look from the film. He highlighted how drastically he had to change his look for this film from Padmaavat, which hits the theatres this week.
