On a day that marks the first anniversary of the historic protest that Tamils across the globe held to demand the revoking of the ban on Jallikattu, actor Kamal Haasan praised Tamils for their unwavering heart and their never-say-die attitude.
It may be recalled that lakhs of people had taken to the streets and to the Marina in Chennai to demand that the ban on Jallikattu, the bull taming sport, be revoked. The protest was a success as the Tamil Nadu government came up with a practical, legislative solution to the ban that was imposed by the judiciary.
Posting on Twitter today, Kamal said, "Indru Jallikattu Porattathin Aandu Vizha. Saamanyargal vendra puratchi. Tamizhanin Thalaraa manamum ayaraa thanmaiyum kanda vetri. Vazha Nattramizhar." (Today is the Jallikattu protest's annual day. This was a protest that was won by the common people. This was a victory that was won by a Tamil's unwavering heart and his never-say-die attitude. Long live good Tamils!)

The actor, who has announced that he will announce the name of his party on 21 February when he undertakes a state-wide tour to speak to people and understand their problems, has begun holding consultations with his welfare association members from different districts.
Yesterday, Haasan met representatives from his welfare associations in Madurai, Dindugal, Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai and Chennai.
Today, sources say that the actor is holding talks with members of his welfare associations in the remaining 27 districts of the state.
