The actor and his longtime girlfriend exchanged rings on Monday (22 January) in Lucknow.

Actor Prateik, son of actor-politician Raj Babbar and late actress Smita Patil, who will next be seen in Baaghi 2 (2018) and Mulk, and his longtime girlfriend Sanya Sagar exchanged rings and got engaged on Monday (22 January) in Lucknow. The couple got engaged atthe bride-to-be's farmhouse in her hometown of Lucknow.
Prateik confirmed his engagement by sharing a photo of him and Sagar looking shocked on Instagram. He captioned the photo, "#monday.. "holy snappp!.. that just happened!".
The 31-year-old actor has known Sagar, a filmmaker, for eight years and proposed to her in December 2017 during a music festival in Goa. She studied at Mumbai’s National Institute of Fashion Technology and completed her masters in film production from Goldsmiths, University of London. Prateik indicated that hopefully in the future the two would work together on a project.
Prateik spoke to the tabloid Mumbai Mirror and said, "Sanya and I, along with our families, decided that something as pure as love should be solemnised on an auspicious day and what better day than Basant Panchami. She’s the best partner I could have asked for. It didn’t take me long to figure out that she was the one for me. I know it sounds clichéd, but I can’t stop counting my blessings and thanking God for all the good that is happening in my life."
According to the same report, Sagar had "arranged for a seven-course Lucknowi meal, which included rajma, Prateik’s favourite dish".
The couple haven't set a wedding date as yet, though Prateik admitted he wanted to wait a while and enjoy their courtship. His ideal wedding would be at the beach or else at the temple.
Prateik also told Mumbai Mirror that his mother, Smita, would have been the happiest at his engagement. "I constantly feel her presence, she is my guardian angel and guiding force," he said.
