Dulquer Salmaan has not even wrapped up his first Hindi film, and he already has another one in his diary. The actor is reportedly in the pole position for the screen adaptation of Anuja Chauhan's 2008 bestseller, The Zoya Factor.
He is currently shooting for Ronnie Screwvala's Karwaan, which also stars Mithila Palkar and Irrfan Khan.
A report by Mumbai Mirror, a tabloid, suggested that while the actor has confirmed his interest in the role, the cast is yet to be finalized by the production house.
Actress Sonam Kapoor is expected to star opposite Dulquer in the film. Kapoor confirmed her involvement in the film in August via a tweet.
The story of The Zoya Factor revolves around a girl, who is born on the day of India's first cricket world cup win in 1983. Soon, she is considered to be the lucky charm of the Indian cricket team. The story tracks her journey up to the next big triumph in 2011 cricket world cup. It is possible that Dulquer will play the practical Indian captain who clashes with Zoya against this popular superstition.
Produced by Adlabs Entertainment, the project will be helmed by Abhishek Kapoor.
Sonam Kapoor is currently busy promoting R Balki's Pad Man, and is also wrapping up her home production, Veere Di Wedding.
Since making his debut in the 2012 crime drama, Second Show, Dulquer has emerged as the new star of Malayalam cinema with commendable performances in Bangalore Days (2014), Kammati Paadam (2016) and Mani Ratnam's O Kadhal Kanmani (2015).
