A couple of days after he announced his intention to enter politics, superstar Rajinikanth met the press today at the Radisson Blu hotel in Chennai.

The actor said that this meet was an informal one and its primary objective was to thank the media for the manner in which they had taken the message he had delivered from Raghavendra Mandapam, to the world.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajinikanth said that he had himself been a mediaperson for a while. Stating that after he failed his school exams, he had a friend who was working in a Kannada publication who helped him get a proof reader's job. "I have worked as a proof reader for two months in that publication," the actor said and added that after he turned an artiste, he gave his first interview to a publication called Bommai in the year 1976.

The actor, while pointing out that he would be meeting the press more often henceforth, said that the biggest revolutions had all begun from Tamil Nadu.

"We all have responsibilities," the star reminded journalists, who were present on the occasion and exchanged pleasantries with them.
