From Amitabh Bachchan to Alia Bhatt, how stars welcomed 2018

The high of the new year party is just about receding, and the industry seems to be coming back to work in instalments. The stars, however, are in another zone. Even before the new year weekend kicked in, many of the industry's top actors were seen taking off to several prime vacation destinations. Naturally, social media became the best platform for fans looking to keep a track of how their favourite stars celebrated the new year's. 

Amitabh Bachchan 

While the veteran is no longer a party child, he still nurtures the innocence within him. Naturally, he welcomed the new year in the cosy comforts of his home with his family, and the delightful company of granddaughters, Aaradhya and Navya Naveli. 

Priyanka Chopra 

Someone else who spent the last day of the fading year with thier family was Priyanka Chopra. The actress has had a hectic 2017 and decided to end it with a quiet luncheon in the company of her family and close friends in London. 

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma 

After the social media was flooded with pictures of their wedding, and later their reception, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli took some time off the digital world to enjoy each other's company in South Africa. While Kohli has the Indian cricket team's upcoming tour of South Africa to prepare for, the couple did not miss a chance of welcoming the new year together. 

Kareena and Saif Ali Khan 

The royal couple of Pataudi spent their New Year's eve in Switzerland with little Taimur for company. The family spent the night of 31st with friends, Karan Johar, Manish Malhotra and others in quite a glamorous party.  

Alia Bhatt 

The Dear Zindagi (2016) actress welcomed 2018 with her best friends at the beach in Bali. The actress is celebrating her friend's upcoming nuptials, as well as the year's last day, together and seemed to have picked the ideal spot. 

Sonam Kapoor 

The Neerja (2016) actress spent the New Year's eve in Paris with beau, Anand Ahuja, for company. 

 Rajkummar Rao 

Another Indian presence in the far east was Rajkummar Rao, who was taking a break from his method with girlfriend, Patralekha, for company. The Instagram pictures of the two from their vacation at Koh Samui, and later parties, are proof that they certainly had bucketloads of fun. 

Varun Dhawan 

Never shy, Varun Dhawan took to the beach on the last day of the year. The actor even went scuba diving to kick start his new year in style. 

Shah Rukh Khan 

Not all of them took a vacation. Leave it to the insomniac workaholic Shah Rukh Khan to ensure the release of his new film's teaser on the first day of the year. The actor put up a picture on his Instagram suggesting that unlike his co-star, Anushka Sharma, he was busy working even on the 1st day of the year. 

Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon 

The Raabta (2017) co-stars have taken off to spend a snowy New Year's eve on the Swiss mountain ranges beside the famed Matterhorn. While they have never officially confirmed their status, the pictures from their social media page tell a different story. 

Akshay Kumar 

For the man who swears by fitness, the arrival of new year only meant new challenges. Pad Man star Akshay Kumar was in Cape Town, on a vacation with his family. Yet, he literally took a leap into 2018 by posting a picture of his new 'resolution' for the year. 

Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani 

Skipping the usual Europe and Far East choices, Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani headed to the azure waters of Sri Lanka to welcome the new year.
