Vikram Bhatt’s 1921 has fared much better than the two films it released with — Mukkabaaz and Kaalakaandi. The film, starring Zareen Khan, managed to earn Rs11.15 nett crore in the first week, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.

Anurag Kashyap’s Mukkabaaz, starring Vineet Kumar Singh and Zoya Hussain, has been praised by critics and audiences alike. But earned only Rs6.75 crore nett at the box office in its first week.

Akshat Verma’s Kaalakaandi is the worst of the lot. The film, starring Saif Ali Khan, Vijay Raaz, Isha Talwar and Deepak Dobriyal among others, has made a paltry Rs4.50 crore nett in week one.

There were no big releases today, Friday, 19 January. This might help Mukkabaaz and 1921 in the coming week as they have got decent number of shows, especially in Mumbai. With very few theatres, Kaalakaandi is expected to struggle in the second week too.

Meanwhile, Ali Abbas Zafar’s Tiger Zinda Hai has been impressive even in its fourth week. The film, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, has managed to earn Rs11 crore nett in week four, which is an encouraging number for any film.
