A still from the Telugu film

The cult Telugu film, Arjun Reddy (2017), is officially being remade in Hindi by director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and producers Murad Khetani and Ashwin Varde of Cinel Studios. Vanga made his directorial debut with the film and will now helm the Hindi version as well.

Starring Vijay Devarakonda and Shalini Pandey, Arjun Reddy tells the story of a young doctor, with anger issues, whose relationship with his girlfriend falls apart after her father's opposition. The character then goes on a downward spiral.

The news was announced on Twitter by trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

There is already a Tamil version, Varma, underway to be directed by the National Award-winning director Bala.

No cast as been announced yet for the Hindi version, but actor Arjun Kapoor, who worked with producers Khetani and Varde on last year's Mubarakan is rumoured to be in the running for the lead.
