There is a dearth of poetic tracks, so the few that come by are cherished dearly. The makers of Aiyaary have released a romantic song that is aptly titled 'Yaad Hai'.
Penned by Manoj Muntashir, 'Yaad Hai' is a soothing romantic number that rides on the wave of nostalgia.
Major Jai Bakshi (Sidharth Malhotra) and Sonia (Rakul Preet Singh) are missing each other, reminiscing the good times they spent together.
The visuals are self explanatory, but it’s the simple, poetic lyrics that strike a chord. The lyrics are elevated through the mellow composition by Ankit Tiwari, who has also sung the duet with Palak Muchhal. The music is understated, the entire track beating to a soft, soothing rhythm.
The quality of singing truly moves you. Muchhal is gifted, a singer who often croons with an effortless ease. Muchhal does as expected, but it is Tiwari who springs a pleasant surprise.
If you don’t see the credits, you could mistake Tiwari for AR Rahman here, just like this reviewer did. However, credit to Tiwari for emoting the pain and plight of Major Bakshi through his voice. The extended version of the song is keenly awaited.
The only criticism of the song is the slightly melodramatic act of Rakul Preet Singh, but it takes nothing away from the track. 'Yaad Hai' is likely to figure among the more memorable tracks of the year. Aiyaary will be released on 9 February.
