Rakul Preet Singh to romance Ajay Devgn in Akiv Ali's directorial debut

Rakul Preet Singh is gearing up for her next release, Aiyaary, that will hit the screens on 9 February (earlier the film was supposed to be released on 25 January). Even before Aiyaary hit the theatres, the actress has bagged her next project with debutant director Akiv Ali. 

The untitled film will see her romancing Ajay Devgn. The actor is 20 years older to Singh. According to the official statement sent by the makers, Singh plays the role of a fiery, feisty and super confident urban young girl. 

Speaking about the casting, producer Luv Ranjan, said in a statement, “When we met Rakul, her energy from the minute go was just wonderful. It didn’t take us too long to bring her on board for the film because her natural persona fit the character brief to the tee.” 

Bhushan Kumar of T Series, who is also producing the film, said, “Rakul made her debut with us with Yaariyan (2014). And we have a great association with Luv and Ajay. We are delighted taking these relationships forward. Her being a great performer and her strong foothold in the south just made her our perfect package.” 

The film also stars actress Tabu. Her last film Golmaal Again (2017) also starred Devgn. 

Before getting into direction, Ali has worked as an editor on all of Ranjan’s directorials, including Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011), Akaash Vani (2013), Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015) and the upcoming Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety.

He also has other well-known films to his credit like Murder (2004), Life In A...Metro (2007), Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai (2010), The Dirty Picture (2011), Agneepath (2012), Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), Kaabil (2017), among others.
