Vikram Bhatt’s 1921, Akshat Verma’s Kaalakaandi and Anurag Kashyap’s Mukkabaaz generated low numbers in the first weekend. The films made Rs6.25 crore, Rs2.90 crore and Rs4 crore respectively.
Their box office performances of first Monday too was dismal, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
1921 continued to be the best of the lot adding Rs1.5 crore to its kitty on 15 January. Kaalakaandi, starring Saif Ali Khan, earned a meagre Rs50 lakh while Mukkabaaz, starring Vineet Kumar Singh, managed Rs75 lakh.
The grand total of 1921, Kaalakaandi and Mukkabaaz stand at Rs7.75 crore, Rs3.40 crore and Rs4.75 crore, respectively.
No big film is scheduled to be released coming Friday, 19 January, but given these numbers, the films have little hope of earning a decent number in next week.
However, the positive word-of-mouth and reviews for Mukkabaaz might be of help.
On the other hand, Tiger Zinda Hai, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, managed to earn well even on its fourth Monday. It bagged a decent Rs1.25 crore. The film, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, has so far earned a mammoth Rs326.79 crore.
